# Batch-two engineering examples

These are engineering examples, not customer work or software compatibility certificates.

## Gear: MIT reference transformed by native Inkscape

`gear-before.svg` is an unchanged copy of `../showcase/gear.svg`, the project's previously traced 100 × 100 mm reference based on Bootstrap Icons v1.13.1 `gear-wide-connected`. Source: https://github.com/twbs/icons/blob/v1.13.1/icons/gear-wide-connected.svg . Copyright (c) 2019–2024 The Bootstrap Authors, MIT; the complete license is included in `BOOTSTRAP-LICENSE.txt`.

`gear-simplify-once.svg` and `gear-simplify-three-times.svg` are transformations of that traced reference using actual Inkscape 1.4.4 (dcaf3e7, 2026-05-05) `path-simplify` actions. The three-action example runs three consecutive actions in one CLI process on a fresh copy. It is not the result of a different tracing engine. The corresponding PNGs are new native Inkscape renders of these exact SVG files, not edited screenshots. The original source SVG and existing image files were preserved.

Date: 2026-10-09. Reproduction: `scripts/verify-search-batch-two.py`; commands, stdout/stderr, hashes, byte counts, node definition and measured bounds: `evidence/search-batch-two-2026-10-09/software/native-simplify-results.json` and `native-commands.json`.

All examples retain four explicitly closed subpaths. That count does not prove preserved hole topology, narrow bridges, absence of self-intersection, or suitability for cutting. Repeated Simplify visibly changes the gear outline and internal openings; inspect before and after at the intended physical scale. The measured outline bounds change even though the SVG page remains 100 × 100 mm. No LightBurn/Cricut or machining test is claimed here.

## Controlled unit fixtures: CC0

`calibration-mislabeled-inch.dxf` and `calibration-unitless.dxf` derive from the TraceDXF project-created `../showcase/calibration-100x70.dxf` asymmetric engineering fixture. Each changes exactly one byte: the `$INSUNITS` declaration changes from `4` (millimetres) to `1` (inches), or to `0` (unitless). All coordinates and other file bytes are unchanged. The coordinate extent remains 100 × 70 units; these intentionally mismatched declarations are teaching fixtures, not production cutting files.

To the extent possible under law, the TraceDXF project team has waived all copyright and related or neighboring rights to these two controlled engineering fixture files under CC0 1.0 Universal: https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/ . This dedication covers these created fixture files only, not Bootstrap artwork or third-party application interfaces. The files are supplied without warranty. Native import behavior must be recorded separately; changing a header alone is not proof that an application scales a file by 25.4.
